TalkingZone | Counselling Service for John Frost School

This page is for young people attending John Frost School who want to know more about counselling and how to get to see the counsellor.

TalkingZone provides your school with a counsellor who works with all pupils wishing to talk about certain problems they may be having.

Counselling is private and confidential. That means anything you tell the counsellor stays between you and the counsellor unless you say something that means you are at serious risk of harm. The counsellor will tell you more about this before you start.

TalkingZone also offers a new counselling service for young people aged between 11-17 years.

As well as the counsellor who works at your school, TalkingZone online counselling is an additional place which is safe and private where you can talk to a counsellor via text chat or find help about some of the things that may be worrying you.

Online Counsellors are available online each Thursday between 6pm-8pm.

The TalkingZone website also provides self help information and videos which are available 24hrs a day 7 days a week.

Why Counselling?

We all have times when it feels hard to talk to those closest to us about things which are bothering us. Often this can be because we don’t want to worry them or we are afraid of what they might say. The counsellor will listen to you carefully, not judging you, but look to help you understand what might be bothering you and help you to find a solution or a way to cope with the troubles you are having.

Types of problems that counselling can be used for may include:

  • Losing someone you care about

  • Physically hurting yourself

What can Counselling offer?

  • A regular space and time to talk about your worries or difficulties.
  • Help you to look at how you might want things to be different, by talking and using a range of activities.
  • Looking at your strengths and finding new strengths to help you deal with problems in a positive way.
  • Counsellors take a long time to train for their job and should treat you in a caring, warm manner and will try to be as understanding and helpful to you as they can.

  • Everything you say in counselling is private between you and your counsellor unless you are at serious risk of harm by others, to yourself or to others.
